Recently, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs released the fourth batch of famous and high-quality “local specialties” in Zhejiang Province, with 100 products selected. Among them, 14 products from Lishui City were successfully included in the list: bayberries from Liandu District, spiny-breasted frogs from Longquan City, rice-fish rice from Qingtian County, black fungus from Yunhe County, organic fish from Yunhe Lake, wilderness tea from Qingyuan County, Chinese chinquapin and yellow rice cake from Qingyuan County, dried vegetables from Jinyun County, roasted sweet potatoes from Suichang County, Chinese torreya from Songyang County, camellia oil from Songyang County, Qianxia Lake fish and polygonatum from Jingning County.

To date, a total of 44 products from Lishui City have been listed on the Zhejiang Province Famous and High-quality “Local Specialties” Top 100 List, making it one of the prefecture-level cities with the most listed products in the province (tied with Wenzhou).

In addition, the first batch of new “local specialty” products in Zhejiang Province was released at the same time. Two products from Lishui—matcha and white jade snails—were selected, among the total of 10 new varieties listed across the province.

In recent years, Lishui has adhered to its mountainous resources and “ecological advantages”, seizing the significant opportunity of the pilot program for realizing the value of ecological products, and transforming ecological strengths and ecological value into the quality genes of its “local specialties”. In 2014, “Lishui Shannong” became the first regional public agricultural brand among prefecture-level cities nationwide; in 2019, “Lishui Shanju” became the first regional public brand for agritourism homestays among prefecture-level cities nationwide; in 2022, “Lishui Shanquan” was added to Lishui’s “Shan(Mountain)” series of regional public brands. Meanwhile, Lishui has formulated and issued the Three-Year Action Plan for Building the Whole Industry Chain of Quality Agriculture in Lishui, insisting on developing the whole industry chain of quality agriculture as an important means to drive the full-chain development of “local specialty” prosperity, highlighting the “Chain Chief Responsibility System” and pushing forward five major actions in depth.

In 2024, Lishui achieved a total output value of 71.527 billion yuan in the whole industry chain of quality agriculture, an increase of 12.76%, driving the added value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery in the city to grow by 4.3%, ranking second in the province. The total number of people employed in the whole industry chain reached 505,100, with a per capita income of 36,600 yuan, supporting a record-breaking increase in farmers’ per capita disposable income and achieving the province’s “sixteenth consecutive championship”. The income growth rate of low-income households also ranked first in the province for the ninth consecutive year.
